In addition to personal study and ongoing continuing education, I participate in a weekly international DBT collaborative consultation of therapists representing a wide spectrum of political, personal and religious viewpoints. We help each other grow and stay accountable so that we can provide the best care to you. |
WELCOME! I'm so glad you made it this far. This is a BIG step.
You are probably here because you or someone close to you has noticed that something is off. A mood you can't shake, a worry or restlessness that is robbing you of your joy (and sleep), a part of your past that interferes with your present and casts a shadow over your future. You may wonder if there is any hope left. (PSST: Yes, there is!) Here's the thing: These feelings and hunches and restless bodies contain both questions and answers that are essential to your life's journey. You cannot skip over them or work around them (at least not for long). Instead, you must learn to lean in and engage (aka "do the work") and thus allow these signals to guide you in the direction of deeper understanding, compassion, healing, and growth. Therapy can help. A LOT. We will hold safe space together for all of your emotions, all of your parts, to move toward a sense of self that is worthy and capable. You will reconnect with your core self and learn to take this renewed sense of self into the world... where you will do remarkable things. To start sharing your story, reach out with an email, text or call. I look forward to hearing from you. In the meantime, don't forget to check out my RESOURCE PAGE. It has breath work videos for fighting off panic or rage, movement for releasing pent up worry and dread, and podcasts to both enlighten and entertain. About Me
Before stepping into private practice, I was a Spanish teacher, a crisis intervention specialist, and a school counselor. I completed my counseling training in 2012 at the University of North Texas and feel a deep sense of purpose as I strive to skillfully support and strengthen ALL types of individuals and families with empathy and compassion. We heal together. My own family is multicultural, interfaith, blended and bilingual. Faith, family and a heavy dose of curiosity have carried us through a myriad of highs and lows including blended family dynamics, boundary setting, daily expectations and disappointments, cancer, the unexpected loss of loved ones to suicide, career changes and challenges... and just plain growing up. Every experience has tested me... and deepened my capacity for compassion and non-judgment toward self and others. I love working with people from diverse experiences, backgrounds, cultures and belief systems. Challenging my own comfort zone has helped me to grow, to chill out, to ask better questions, and to find truer answers. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or get to your closest ER. They will know what to do.
